Writing

As a historian of early America, I write mostly academic articles that appear in peer-reviewed, scholarly journals. These essays can be accessed here.

I am also in the midst of finalizing a book project, building off my dissertation work. The book, tentatively titled Muddy Ground: Native Peoples, the Chicago Portage, and the Transformation of a Continent, 1650-1848, explores the ways in which environmental and geographic factors shaped cross-cultural contact between Native peoples and incoming Europeans. You can read more details about the project here.

I occasionally write other short pieces for non-academic outlets and those can be found here.
